Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

All submissions should include an explanation of how the manuscript meets the aims of the journal.  Typically, submissions should not be longer than 30 double-spaced pages (one-inch margins, Times New Roman 11-point font) including all figures, tables, references etc. Formatting will follow APA style. Authors speaking English as a second language should have their manuscripts edited by a native English speaker prior to submission. Publication Policy & Manuscript Requirements

  • All submitted manuscripts must be consistent with Journal policy.  http://www.swst.org/pubtest/biobus/authors/policy.html

Formatting

  • All manuscripts should have a title page  containing title, authors names and affiliations, and contact information for corresponding author
  • Manuscripts should be submitted as a separate file from the title page. It is important to ensure that author/s or their affiliations are not identified in this file in any form. This file should include an abstract (not more than 200 words), 3-5 keywords, main body with Tables, Figures, and References (Tables and Figures should be included in Main body), and acknowledgements
  • Headings: 1st level, centered, all caps, bold; 2nd level, left justified, capitalize each word, bold; 3rd level indented from left margin, capitalize each word, bold, italics
  • All text (including the title page) should be double spaced and in 12 point font (for example, Times New Roman), with line numbering enabled
  • There are no length restrictions, but typically a manuscript should not be longer than 35 pages including references, tables, and figures
  • References and Periodical Abbreviations: The format and style of written works for publication should normally follow the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

Submitting a Revised Version of Manuscript

When uploading a revised version of your manuscript, be sure you are under the "Review" tab of your manuscript, and upload the new version at the bottom of the page under "Editor Decision", where it says "Upload Author Version".

 

Empirical Manuscripts

Data-based, quantitative or qualitative manuscripts are welcome.

Synthesis Manuscripts

These are designed to consolidate knowledge in a particular research area. A thorough literature search and selection process should be carefully documented and justified. These manuscripts lead to a new understanding of existing knowledge and may include development of proposed frameworks or models to guide further research.

Commentaries

Communications in the form of research notes on published papers or viewpoints from readers on contemporary issues. These may also present methodological commentaries and work-in-process for constructive feedback from peers.
