Editorial Letter: Two-Year Anniversary of Editorial Leadership
From the outset, I established a commitment to providing a first editorial decision, whether a desk rejection or invitation for peer review, within 14 calendar days. I believe that timely and transparent communication is essential to a positive author experience, and I have worked to ensure that corresponding authors remain well-informed throughout each stage of the review process.
The year 2025 marked a notable surge in journal activity, with 21 manuscript submissions compared to our historical average of 11 per year, an increase of over 100%. This growth signals rising interest in the journal and the expanding relevance of bioproducts research within global conversations on sustainability and innovation.
Looking ahead, my target is to sustain the publication of five peer-reviewed articles annually to maintain key performance metrics and ensure the continued quality and impact of the journal. As of this year, we have published three articles, two of which are part of a special issue developed in collaboration with IUFRO and FAO under the Task Force on Scaling-Up Science-Based Forest Sector Innovation Special Issue: Scaling up innovation for sustainable value creation (due: September 30, 2026) | BioProducts Business. This partnership reflects our commitment to bridging research and practice.
I would also like to highlight that we are continuing to accept submissions for this special issue until September 30, 2026. We warmly encourage you to consider submitting your work if it aligns with the scope of the issue. In addition, we will open a call for new members of the editorial team in Fall 2026 (Northern Hemisphere), and we welcome expressions of interest from those who would like to contribute to the journal’s continued development. An announcement will be made.
Engagement with published work continues to grow. Over the past year, the most viewed articles include Do Thi et al. (2025) Sustainable rural development through integrated agritourism, rural tourism, and ecotourism: A bibliometric review | BioProducts Business, Handrito et al. (2024) The more concerned you are, the greener you are: The role of consumer personality towards adoption of biobased shopping bags. | BioProducts Business, and Salim et al. (2022) Automation Decisions in Manufacturing System Development Projects – The Wood Products Industry Perspective | BioProducts Business.
Across all time, highly viewed articles such as Chen et al. (2016) U.S. Biofuels Industry: A Critical Review of the Opportunities and Challenges | BioProducts Business, Quesada-Pineda et al. (2017) ASSESSING GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS USE IN MARKETING APPLICATIONS FOR THE WOOD PRODUCTS INDUSTRY | BioProducts Business, and Tan et al.
